- I am a disabled vet I spent 7 years on submarines during the 80s I got hurt bad during a torpedo reload when a chain broke and it swung and nailed me. But here is the reason I am commenting 5 years ago the VA hospital gave some of some free welding books. They even paid for the helmet . I bought a Kobalt top of the line in Lowe's it cost 79.00 . It had 2 sensors the shade control was on the out side . It has been tru a lot and today after my VA visit I took it in pieces to Lowe,s to see what they would do. They gave me the highest cost which was the helmet you have. I got it for free. The big difference is the old helmet had a life time warranty and this one 3 years .The sight is the same I do not like the shade control on the inside . The old helmet had 4 spare glasses and every thing your has . I do not weld much and never had . It just take my mind off problems with my heath.i hope this new one lasts as long as the old one . Even thou I had to duck tape it tye wrap it and a few other things.
