Dyskusja o Kobalt 80V Lithium Powered Lawn Mower Review

- I just bough the Eco 56-Volts 2 months ago!. I wonder if this has more power since is 80-Volts. I get 45 min fulled charged but if grass is light and and not cutting it very low.  Eco does not increase speed when need it as you mention this kobalt does. ad you are right design on Eco is better, seems kobalt was more focus on the power. nice that comes with 2 batteries. Eco comes with one.
- The main advantage of the Kobalt over the Ego is that if something goes wrong beyond 90 days, all you have to do is take that joint back to Lowe's, for a replacement or refund and that's that. I have read Ego has decent customer service, but it involves calling and what not. I'm sure they have you doing troubleshooting you probably have already done and at the very least waiting some days for a replacement. To quote the great philosopher Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that". That being said, design wise, the Ego wins hands down.
- Echo sells an electric mower at Home Depot for a similar price point.
- I bought this mower a month ago and it just died on me today. On top of tht, one of the batteries was DOA out of the box & it took over a month to get it replaced.
- Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk..
- Thanks for your review.  Can you comment - does the battery get very warm after running the mower?  Does the battery need to cool down at all before the charging sequence begins?  Thanks!
- just get the 40 volt with 2 extra batteries. lighter and quieter than this.
- Just picked my Kobalt 80v mower today.  Do you have issues with the location of the wire that comes down the handle for the starter button?  Mine seems to get jammed up between the handle and the big flap on the back of the mower.
- So it's been few more weeks since you've posted this review.  Has your experience been good since then?  Any more pros or cons to share? I'm on the ego vs kobalt fence at the moment.  There's a wholesaler near me that has the ego for $300.  It's been used a couple times but otherwise is like new, except no manufacturer warranty. I'm seriously considering the kobalt though, like everyone else, because of the 2 batteries.  Thanks for any additional info, and for doing this review.  All of us research fanatics are very grateful.  :-)
- NOISY LITTLE FUTHER MUCKER !  IS IT SELF PROPELLED OR A PUSHER ?
- Very good review Chris! You almost sold me. Whenever they come out with a self-propelled version for us "old timers", I'll get one. Two tips. NEVER charge a warm or hot battery! This will kill them quickly. Let them cool down before charging. Also do NOT store the batteries with a full charge during off season. (Winter). Try a 50% charge if possible. I know you only have three lights on the battery so this would be tough. I have four lights on my B&D Li-ion batts so it's easier to judge 50%.
- Dethatching blades ?
- Check out the Echo CLM-58V4AH
- Cool!  Nice, no changing the batteries during the mow
- Can these batteries also be used in a blower, string trimmer and hedge trimmer so your system can be all electric?
- Just FYI, Greenworks will have 4.0 and 6.4 Ah packs coming soon. 80v and 6.4Ah should give probably 90 minutes of mowing!
- David, thanks for the explanation. Sorry about that. From what I read in the internet I was under the impression the amp would be the current but I got it confused with amp-hour. Therefore like you said, the Kobalt with 80v AND a brushless motor will put out a lot more power than the 56v Ego. Well, I feel even better about my purchase now! Thanks for clarifying that for anyone reading this.
- Thanks for the review, I am also trying to decide between this and the ego. Any chance we can get a video of this trying to cut some tall grass, doesn't have to be wet, just to see how it goes. Glad that you showed that you can store it upright, this will be nice for winter storage.

Yeah, I hate the cheap handle knobs also.
- So I bought one on Monday and used it already. I really liked it. I had damp grass with some patches 8 to 9 inches high. it was the first cut of the season and it powered through everything with no problems.

I did some research and it seems like the power or wattage in an electrical system is measured by multiplying volts times amps. So at 56v with 4 amp battery, the Ego 56v should produce 224 watts compared to the Kobalt with 80v and a 2 amp battery producing only 160 watts, I read that 750 watts is equal to one horsepower. I also think the Ego looks sturdier and like you said, the handles look much sturdier than the Kobalt. I really wanted to get the Ego but with one battery, that would be a problem compared to the Kobalt. I have a quarter acre that is sloped and it took 2 batteries to get it done, I finished just before a storm rolled in, had I gotten the Ego I wouldn't have finished. I'm also looking at the other cordless tools from Kobalt and its nice having 2 batteries to switch out when needed. Plus Lowes is really good with their returns for their in house brands f necessary. Anyway, thanks again for you review as it helped me make my decision.
- Thanks for putting this out there, not a lot of reviews on this as of now.  Trying to decide on this or the Ego 56v or a 40v one from Kobalt or Ryobi.  Did not realize the Ego only came with one battery!  That might be the deciding factor.  Thanks again and don't lend it to any neighbors.
