Dyskusja o A problem with our Kobalt 10" sliding compound miter saw

- I have this exact same saw, and have the exact same problem.  I've had the problem for quite some time.  I've had it for probably 3 years or more?  I bought it when we were building our house and used it a lot.  Not sure how long I used it before it started doing this, but we were able to keep using it.  Just carefully.  I haven't used it for many, many months and just pulled it out to cut some stuff.  Now the problem seems even worse!  I figured it needed to be lubed or something, but I needed a rest anyway so came inside to sit a bit and look on here to see what I could find.  Surprise surprise, the first video that popped up on YouTube was the same saw with same problem.  I know this video and these posts are a little bit old, but does anyone have any updated information on this?  I really don't want to return it to Lowe's (if I'm even in the return window) b/c I don't want the same saw if it's going to have the same problem.  This is my first one, but I really do like it (other than this issue).  Wondered if anyone has a longer term solution or if I need to call Kobalt?
- I have the same problem right now.... but I have taken the guard assembly off trying to fix the piece of work. any tips on what to tell Lowes, So they don't tell me to go away or buy a new one? Mine is not a year old but I use it everyday, the problem started after about 2 months of use.... kind of made me mad.
- Had the same problem with a saw that was two years old, but Lowes gladly replaced it with a new saw.  It has a 3 year no hassle guarantee.  I contacted Kobalt with this problem and they were super nice a offered replacement parts for the saw at no charge.
- I just got mine today wish me luck thanks for the vid and good luck with your saw
- Susie, were you ever able to get the problem fixed?  I've had a Kobalt 10' SC Miter Saw (model SM2503LW) for ten or twelve years; so far, I've only had to replace the motor brushes -- I recommend you keep a pair.  I spoke with a neighbor who has the same model as I have: no problems -- just replaced the brushes.  I suspect the problem you've been having is something to do with the more-recent models; it might be that Kobalt farmed out some of the parts to cheaper suppliers.  Anyway, how is the saw these days?
- I am getting a replacement Kobalt, getting the same saw since I really like this one. I am shipping this one back to Kobalt for them to check it out. I did hear from Kobalt, and the guy was very very nice, concerned about this.
- Just bought mine today, hopefully i don't run into this problem.
- Talked to Kobalt CS, and turns out they've been gettin a lot of these returned, due to the same problem with that lever. I was told they'd have the supplier contact me, & supplier would ship a new lever. So far, 10 days later, I haven't heard from anyone, or received anything. On a side note, we went to Lowes last week, and lo & behold, there was a returned Kobalt 12" inch with the exact same problem sitting on the shelf. It was stuck and I mean REALLY stuck down. Then we looked at a brand new display 10" like ours, and what do you think? -- It exhibited the same thing: the lever would tilt, the roller would stick, and the blade would catch in the down position. This is on a new, display 10" sliding compound. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
Too bad, cause I really liked this saw.
